WALKING AROUND THE LOCAL AREA
The cottage is an excellent base for the keen walker as it as able to offer the perfect location for walking in a peaceful and beautiful part of Wales. You do not have to get in your car to start your walk as there are a variety of interesting routes that start right from the door.
The area is very peaceful and allows you to really escape the crowds, the walks in the area are not well known to many people and do not appear in local guide books so you can be assured of experiencing total tranquillity.
Walkers of all abilities are catered for as the routes from the cottage range from a few miles of easy/moderate walking to longer more strenuous walking for the experienced.
There are clear detailed routes and OS Maps provided in the cottage which will take you through unspoilt countryside, woods, by rivers and up onto open hillside to experience spectacular views of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. You will not need to purchase lots of guide books/maps etc to enjoy your holiday as everything you need is provided.
WALKING IN THE BRECON BEACONS
Walking in the Brecon Beacons is easily accessible from the cottage and is only a short drive away. The area has been a challenging walking environment used by tourists and even a favourite for the military due to its interesting, challenging and varied landscape. The view from the highest Beacon, Pen-y-fan is stunning and is well worth the climb, which can be taken via the easier well defined route and can be managed by less experienced walkers. This can be lengthened to take in the other mountains and can provide a thrilling experience.
For anyone not wanting to climb the mountains there are some equally spectacular walks on the lower levels which allow fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons and other surrounding countryside.
Walking information covering a variety of walks in the area is also provided, again with detailed routes that can be taken with you on your walks to assist you. Guided walks are often available from the Mountain Centre and cover all abilities.
